The ruins, which date back to the 14th century, stretch for over 25 kilometers and comprise more than 500 monuments. A must visit place for art and culture lovers.
2. Fort Kochi
Kochi, commonly known as the ‘Gateway to Kerala’, is a beautiful city to visit. It has the mark of all foreign cultures like Arabs, British, Dutch, Chinese, and Portuguese.
Most people recognize Kochi from pictures of the famous Chinese fishing nets that line the waterfront.
Fort Kochi is full of ancient architecture and historical sites. Tourists can explore the city while out for a stroll.
3. Kerala Backwaters
Kerala is famous all over the world for its beautiful backwaters.
Here, you can take a trip in a houseboat along the palm and coconut fringed canals. With your near and dear ones around you, Indian food with chilled beer served on the house boats make it a truly awesome experience.
Visitors can also spend the night on the boat, in the middle of water which is a beautiful experience. Do try to stay at one of India’s best homestays such as Vembanad House, on the banks of Vembanad Lake. You will be able to taste freshly caught and traditionally cooked seafood here.
Varkala-trip4. Varkala
Varkala is a beautiful place in Kerala along the long winding stretch of cliffs with a pristine view of the Arabian sea. A paved footpath runs along the length of the cliff, bordered by coconut palms, quaint shops, beach shacks, hotels, and guest houses.
Its beauty makes it one of India’s best beaches.Try planning your trip around March/early April when the April festival takes place.
5. Madurai
Madurai is an ancient historical city in Tamil Nadu and is home to the most visited Meenakshi Temple. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati, also known as Meenakshi in South India, and her consort Shiva, also known as Sundareswarar in South India. The temple forms the heart and lifeline of the 2,500 year old city.
During the olden days, when the Nayak dynasty ruled, many magnificent temples and buildings were built.
The older part of the town, with its narrow winding lanes, is a fascinating site. The 12 day Chithirai Festival, which features a re-enacted mythological wedding between Lord Shiva and Goddess Meenakshi, is held during April each year.
